5 Jars of pills

You have 5 jars of pills. Each pill weighs 10 grams, except for contaminated pills contained in one jar, where each pill weighs 9 grams. Given a scale, how could you tell which jar had the contaminated pills in just one measurement?

  1. Take 5 pills from jar 1, 4 from jar 2, 3 from jar 3, 2 from jar 4 and 1 from jar 5.

If all pills were of same weight, then total weight would have been 50+40+30+20+10 = 150 gms

If jar 1 has the lighter pills, then weight will be off by 5 gms, if jar 2 has lighter, then weight will be off by 4 gms and so on.
